Comment The King-Bates Lot is located 1500 feet north of Town Farm Road at telephone pole #30, on land belonging to #520 Town Farm Road. Enter the driveway south of #566 Town Farm Road at pole #31. Follow the cart path back about 2000 feet into the woods to an old house and barn foundation. The cemetery is 400 feet southwest of the house foundation and 150 feet northeast of the pond. This lot is 50 ft x 50 ft, in fair condition, and enclosed with a stone wall. There are 16 burials with 10 inscribed stones and six fieldstones. James N. Arnold visited this lot on 3 Nov. 1904 and commented, “On the old Bates farm back from the road in midst of woods, lot walled, in fine order, lot some neglected, large trees growing in the lot” (Vol. 6, pages 312-313). Grace G. Tillinghast also visited this lot in 1930. Found, registered and recorded by Dr. Bill Eddleman and John Sterling for a 1998 book on Coventry cemeteries.
