Notes | Co B 21st Reg C V; b. Richmond, RI; died at the Base Hospital 18th
ArmyCorps, Broadway Landing.
Written on monument:
He joined the 21st Reg. C.V. as 1st Lt. Co. G. was in command at the
severe and disastrous battle of Fredricksburg Va. Dec. 13th, 1862.
Promoted to Capt. Co. B. June 4th 1863. He led his Co. gallantly at the
battles of Drurys Bluff, Va, May 16th, Cold Harbor, June 1st and 3rd, and
Petersburg Va, June 15th and 30th, 1864. He was mortally wounded during
the siege of Petersburg Va. Aug. 18th, 1864, while in command of his Co.
