Comment | The Johnson-Capwell lot is located 150 feet north of Nooseneck Hill Road, just east of an unnamed drive, and 80 feet downhill from Obadiah Johnson Lot (Coventry Historical Cemetery #182), at telephone pole #54. Between 1994 and 1997, this yard was cleared and somewhat re-arranged. The cemetery is 65 ft x 100 ft, in fair condition, and has no enclosure. The historic cemetery sign is in good condition. There are 44 burials with 30 inscribed stones and 14 fieldstones.
James N. Arnold visited this lot on 19 Aug. 1893 and noted, “At Spring Lake beside the road and in pasture without protection” (Vol. 6, Book 17, page 449).
Charles and Martha Benns transcribed this cemetery in 1934, their #290a.
Amelia K. Whitford also transcribed this cemetery.
Recorded by Dr. Bill Eddleman and John Sterling for a 1998 book on Coventry cemeteries |
